live from Japan

Greetings live from Shizuoka, friggin HOT and muggy over here, middle of August type weather for Pennsylvania.

Jet lag is over thank God, harder on my body than I thought it would be. Insulin pump is finally set to Tokyo time. Blood sugar reading have been OK, difficult to read the total carb count labels in Kanji, I'll get better with time.

Downtown Tokyo train/subway station/hub is BIG, largest in the world, VERY multi lingual friendly. Everyone was so helpful,. IMHO, easier to navigate than Grand Central or Penn Station. BTDT, folks in NYC are damn rude in comparison, maybe ________ LOL.

Bullet train ride from Tokyo was NEAT, honestly speaking, felt more like a plane than a railway. Smooth, on time, storage for you luggage. Swear everyone on the train had a laptop or cell phone working away while in motion. First impression that the Japanese like there gadgets.
Quick phone to beaver Jim upon arrival to the Shizuoka City terminal, 20 minutes later, we were drinking bier, talking about our BMW travels together many moons ago. Weird, jet lag had me absolutely wired for almost 44 hours.

Yumi prepared an excellent meal last night., beef with noodles and fresh vegetables, semi sweet sauce. Victoria you would like this style of cooking. VERY healthful compared to a western style diet.

Neat how Japanese society has everything organized down the last T. Refrigerator, bathroom, living area, etc., space is precious. Being a semi organized person, I enjoy that aspect of life. Wish America would get hip to the Washerlet, different.

Today, I'm renting a mountain bike to cruise around on. Amazed on how bicycle riders whiz down the road at night here. NO lights, dark clothing, talking on cell phones, damn streets are NARROW. Good way to become a hood ornament.

Ha, NO BMW to pilot, choice of Suzi V Strom 1000, Honda Transalp or a African Twin. The AT is a sweet fucking bike, wish I could import one into the USA. Why Honda never sold that model in the USA is a mystery ? BMW GS crowd would go absolutely NUTS. For the record the AT came in second in the Dakar race, when it was first introduced.

Stay tuned as I'll be blogging more with pictures in the near future.
